How Reef of Clowns Was Born: A Family's Dive into the Reef Hobby

During the pandemic, like many others, I found myself looking for something new to dive into—something inspiring, creative, and calming. That’s when I truly got into the reef aquarium hobby. At the time, I was living in Seattle, and what started as a small tank quickly grew into something much bigger.

My two sons joined me on the journey. Together, we explored the colorful world of saltwater fish and vibrant corals glowing under blue light. Eventually, we had four aquariums in our home, each one filled with its own slice of ocean life. As a family, we fell in love with the reef—learning about clownfish, anemones, soft corals, LPS, SPS, and everything in between.

As a designer by trade, I saw a unique opportunity to combine creativity with passion. I noticed there weren’t many shops offering high-quality, fun, and creative merch made specifically for reef aquarium hobbyists. So I started Reef of Clowns—a family-run brand focused on delivering playful and premium merchandise for the global reefing community.

Since launching, we’ve been amazed by the support and excitement from fellow reefers. From aquarium-themed hoodies and stickers to coral pillows, wall art, and even UV-reactive tapestries—our collection keeps growing. We’ve even had the chance to showcase our work at Reefapalooza and meet amazing people who share the same love for the reef.

What started in Seattle has now followed us to sunny Arizona. Our family’s love for reef life hasn’t slowed down one bit—and neither has our passion for creating things that bring joy to this incredible community.

Thank you for being part of our journey.

Stay reefy,
– The Reef of Clowns Family 🐠
